House Bill 1205, enacted after citizen initiatives on abortion rights and marijuana nearly passed in 2024, imposes new restrictions on constitutional amendment petitions, including circulator registration and affidavit requirements, tighter signature verification and revocation procedures, and a 90-day signature verification pause. In July 2025 a federal judge blocked the ban on non-resident and non-citizen petition circulators while upholding other provisions, and most of the law remains in effect. It was signed May 2, 2025.
