The Alaska State Board of Education and Early Development voted on August 31, 2023 to adopt regulation 4 AAC 06.115 limiting girls' interscholastic teams to students assigned female at birth, with a separate coed division open to all students. The Alaska School Activities Association adopted an implementing bylaw on October 9, 2023 that took effect 30 days later. The restriction remains in place.
